New Leadership Coming to DeSoto Parish Waterworks Dist. #1

Waterworks District #1 is proud to announce the appointment of a new Superintendent for the Water System.  Mr. David Ryals has been approved as the new Superintendent, replacing long term Administrator John Neilson.  Mr. Neilson has decided to retire after 20 years of service to Waterworks District #1.

David Ryals has a long history in the water industry as a plant operator, plant superintendent, and overall system superintendent.  In addition, David has been employed by LRWA as a Circuit Rider for the past ten years helping other systems throughout the State.  With his background in technical, supervision, and management, we feel David can lead the District forward through the ever increasing maze of regulations and standards.

Mr. Neilson started his career with Waterworks in 2004 and has led the District for the last 20 years.  During his tenure, the District has grown from less then 1,000 meters to a system of over 2,500 meters.  In addition, the plant has been upgrade several times, including the first in the State Membrane Filtration, first in the State Miex Pretreatment and is currently under construction to more than double the capacity and also address some issues with secondary contaminants.

DeSoto Parish Waterworks welcomes David to our staff and wishes John well in his retirement.
